About

I'm Meryl. I make complex products clear, findable and worth buying.

I'm a B2B content and product marketer with a writer's training and more than 10 years in publishing, content and SEO. Today I lead digital, product and customer marketing for two global B2B SaaS brands in cloud communications. I'm based in Delray Beach, Florida.

How I got here

I’ve always been a writer. I made up stories on the spot to keep my brother entertained, wrote short poems to work through what I was feeling, and later wrote academic papers to argue my own readings of literature. These days, the stories are about cloud communications and SaaS, which is less of a leap than it sounds. Marketing lets me blend creativity, connection and purpose: getting useful information to people in many forms, so they can find solutions that make their lives and work easier.

I started in print. I began in publishing in my hometown, Mumbai, as an editorial assistant at Spenta Multimedia, managing editorial calendars, interviewing clients and coordinating freelance writers for print magazines. I learned early that good content runs on process as much as on talent.

Then I moved to Florida to study the craft. I earned an MFA in Creative Writing at Florida Atlantic University and taught college writing, first as a graduate teaching assistant and then as an adjunct. Teaching made me a better editor: you can't fix a draft until you understand what its reader needs.

I learned to write for every kind of reader. As a freelancer, I wrote travel and lifestyle features for magazines like Neapolitan, Visit Miami Beach and Hilton Moments, interviewing local businesses along the way, and B2B SaaS content for companies like Together Platform and Tevera.

Then I found my work in B2B marketing. I joined United World Telecom and Global Call Forwarding in 2019 as a writer. Within a year I was planning the content agenda. By 2023 I was Digital Marketing Manager, owning content, SEO and AI search, product launches, customer marketing, localization and paid search, and leading a team across the US, Brazil and India.

And I never stopped editing. From 2023 to 2025, I edited the Consequence Forum Substack, planning each week's publication, managing writers and running interviews.

Write for customers, not just search engines.

What I bring to your team

Hiring, onboarding and managing writers, designers and developers across time zones, with clear briefs and a high quality bar.

Craft

Writing and editing

Ten years of writing and editing across print, web, video and email, with bylines in CloudTech, Hacker Noon and Nasstar.

Actively building: UX research and design, product marketing, design systems and visual identity, and website management with HTML, CSS, PHP and GitHub, including AI-assisted coding.

How I work

  1. Start with the customer's question. I listen to sales and support calls and read chats, then turn what customers ask into the content and messaging they need.
  2. Close the loop across teams. I keep regular syncs with Sales, Support, Provisioning, Billing and IT, so marketing reflects what the product and the customer actually do.
  3. Measure, then decide. I build the reports I need in GA4, Looker Studio and Zoho, and use them to choose what to make next.
  4. Hold the quality bar. Clear briefs, honest feedback and careful review, so a small team can publish more without cutting corners.
  5. Use AI with judgment. ChatGPT and Claude cut my research and brief time from 4–5 hours to about 1.5. I never start from scratch, I check every source, and people make the final call.

From my team

What it’s like to work with me

“Working with Meryl taught me that there is leadership that makes you feel at home, and that a team can be organized, peaceful, and genuinely comfortable to work in. Her briefs and thoughtful feedback sharpened my writing, and her well-paced onboarding let me grow into my role without ever feeling overwhelmed. On her content team, I am trusted, welcome to share suggestions, and supported in both my development and my work-life balance, which makes me truly lucky to work with her every day.”

— Rayssa Oliveira, Content Marketing Specialist

“Working with Meryl on our Google and Microsoft Ads campaigns has been a true partnership. We plan and optimize together, and she gives me clear direction because she knows the business and its products inside out. She also taught me SEO outreach and link exchanges from the ground up, with a lot of patience, and she always takes the time to review my work and hear my ideas.”

What I love about the work

Ask my colleagues and they’ll tell you I’m organized and I get things done. Bring me an idea and I’ll run with it. The work I enjoy most:

  • A blank slate. A new product or service where we get to decide how to position it, which assets it needs and how to build them, brainstorming with everyone until it feels right.
  • Bringing old content back. Editing and refreshing pages, then watching them thrive.
  • The work doing the work. Seeing customers use my content to find the service they need or fix an issue on their own.

Outside work

I read widely, especially literary fiction and nature writing, and lately a lot of Latin American literary horror. The books that stay with me are the ones that disturb me: they make me question what’s normal and what’s sane, and stretch me toward experiences and emotions beyond my own.

And the blackbird? My name is often linked to Merle, from the Latin merula, “blackbird,” which is where my freelance name, Blackbird Writes, comes from.

Let's talk.
